USCIS Extends Expiration Date of Form I-9

On Friday, USCIS announced that Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, will be valid beyond June 30, 2009.  The Form I-9 (Rev.  2/2/2009) was set to expire on June 30, 2009.  U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has recently requested that the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approve the continued use of the current Form I-9 (Rev. 2/2/2009).  While the request is pending, the Form I-9 (Rev. 2/2/2009) will not expire.

Once OMB approves the extension request, USCIS stated that employers will be able to use either the Form I-9 with the new revision date or the Form I-9 with the 2/2/2009 revision date at the bottom of the form.
